Your Conservation Legacy
Planned giving is one of the most important ways you can support the work and mission of Arizona Land and Water Trust. We are deeply honored by the generosity of those who leave a gift through their estate. You can have a powerful impact on land and water conservation in Southern Arizona by including us in your will, trust or retirement plan. Consider leaving a gift to ensure that Arizona’s land and water is preserved for generations to come.
Retirement plan gifts are one of the easy ways to approach planned giving, and you can simply name Arizona Land and Water Trust as a beneficiary on your plan’s beneficiary designation form. Most retirement plans (other than Roth IRAs) are subject to income taxes—and possibly estate taxes—if left to an individual beneficiary. However, a charity that is named as the beneficiary does not pay income or estate taxes on the distribution, so you can be assured the full value of what is distributed can be used by the Trust.
To name the Trust as a beneficiary, obtain a designation form from your IRA plan administrator. The following information may assist you in filling out the designation form as well as for making private gift plans. Please share this with your attorney, accountant, trust officer or financial planner. It is merely offered as an accommodation and not an offer of legal advice:
“I bequeath __________ (rest and residue, percentage, or amount) to Arizona Land and Water Trust, Inc. (Tax ID # 86-6148507), a not-for-profit organization, with its principal offices located at 2810 North Alvernon Way, Suite 600, Tucson, Arizona 85712, for its ongoing efforts to preserve Southern Arizona’s working landscapes and desert rivers.
How to join the Trust’s Legacy Circle:
- A bequest in your will or revocable trust
- Designate the Trust as a partial, contingent or sole beneficiary of your retirement plan
- A gift of life insurance
- Gifts of donor-advised funds
- Appreciated Assets
Including Arizona Land and Water Trust in your estate plan ensures future generations will benefit from your foresight and that your values will endure.
